Well it certainly seems that the thieves also watched all the World CUP 2010 games. Now that the soccer has finished, the number of crime related incidents is climbing. Our watch urgently needs those residents not actively involved in patrolling (or other assistance to Highway ) to please contact your street co-ordinator or myself to become a visible patroller to try and increase visibility to deter criminal acts. We would also encourage members to print out this news item and to provide to your neighbours who are not possibly on email, as it is perhaps that many of them either do not know what is happening around them or they do not want to know.
With the re-opening of Jaggers Walk there seems to have been an increase of more skelms using the catwalk now that is repaired, as well as the railway line. Please can I once again mention to residents to please take note of vulnerable areas on your properties, eg, overgrown bush, broken fences etc. If you would like one of our team to come do an inspection of your property so we can point out such areas, please contact me. Residents need to be extra careful of leaving windows and doors open whereby opportunists can gain quick and easy access. Also areas of the mountainside, Kommetjie and Simonstown Road
Incident Report – 56 Simonstown Road
Yesterday at around 15h30 the above residents became suspicious whilst at home. They believed there was an intruder on their property. A call was made to the ACL and patrollers responded. It appeared that entry to the property had been gained via 54 Simonstown Road. Both properties adjoining 58 are vacant properties. The intruder stole a set of keys that were by the front door. Later at around 17h40 the residents realised their car had been stolen – CA 123 100. Various items on the side of the property had been disturbed by the perpetrator. Our camera footage shows a very suspect person approaching this area at around 15h25 – which suits the time frame of the above incident. I will publish a picture of this once I have received it.
